Hi Bakers! It’s getting chilly out there, so we are getting warm and cozy in the kitchen. I can’t think of anything more comforting than fresh breads and pillowy sweet doughs. This month, we are diving into yeast-risen baked goods. Chewy focaccia, homemade pizza dough, bouncy morning buns, and buttery brioche - yes please!
What is Yeast?
Simply put, yeast is a single-cell, living organism. It feeds on sugar. As it eats, it gives off carbon dioxide used to leaven certain doughs and make baked goods rise in the oven.
Yes, yeast is alive. And while that might make new bakers anxious, I am here to help you quell those fears in favor of warm, freshly-baked breads and treats. It’s going to be so worth it - I promise!
