Hi Bakers! I have a special gift for you all this season. I’ve put together a Fall Photo Preset Collection for you to use on all your autumn photos. There are three different presets - all with completely different vibes. With just one click, you can totally transform your whole image!
What is a preset? And when/why would you want to use them?
Presets are digital files that give you a starting point for editing your photos in Adobe Lightroom. When applied to an image (or collection of images), settings like contrast, saturation, highlights, and clarity are instantly adjusted to fixed levels and transform the overall photo. Â
Different presets have different settings and thus offer different results. Want a bright and bold image? Choose a preset that enhances highlights and increases vibrance. Feeling dark and moody? Try a preset that deepens shadows and amplifies clarity.
Who are they for?
Do you like taking photos but need help getting creative with your edits? Then presets are for you. If you are a budding photographer, social media enthusiast, or someone that just wants pretty pictures without any fuss, then presets are for you. Even professional photographers speed up their workflow by using presets every day!
Are you new to food photography but overwhelmed when it comes to editing? Not only are presets time-saving, they can take some of the frustration and guesswork out of learning how to use Lightroom or developing your own aesthetic.
I first made these presets for my own work this season. I’ve used all three on many of the images you see here in the newsletter, on my Instagram, and more!
If you need help getting the presets imported into Lightroom, here is a quick guide.

The Fall Preset Collection
Dark Shadows:
(See before/after above). Best for creating a moody, slightly spooky vibe. This preset works well on images with orange and warm tones. It deepens shadows, increases texture and contrast, and softens bright colors.
White Pumpkin:
Best for bright and airy images. This preset works well with warm, brown, orange and cream tones. It adds subtle contrast, lightens shadows, slightly enhances texture and gives a warm glow to the photo.
Golden Leaves:
Best for when you want freshly baked feels and a late afternoon mood. This preset creates images with high contrast and loads of texture with golden highlights.
The presets will not adjust your white balance (temperature) or exposure (brightness). All photos are taken with different amounts and different qualities of light. The presets are to be applied to the image first, then you can make changes to the white balance and exposure until the final image is just right.
Take a look at these photos using my presets along with white balance and exposure adjustments:
I wanted this image to be a bit warmer, so I shifted the temperature towards yellow after applying the GOLDEN LEAVES preset.
After applying the DARK SHADOWS preset, the image was a bit dark. I increased the exposure to lighten the image without losing that moody vibe.
This image was too bright after applying the WHITE PUMPKIN preset to the original images. I decreased the exposure slightly to make the Dulce de Leche Ice Cream pop!
